We are happy to announce that the WSTC tennis courts will be opened to club members and their guests (maximum of one guest per club member on the reservation) to use starting Tuesday, April 1st. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the updated Tennis Safe Play Rules below will need to be closely followed while using the WSTC courts. While court monitoring staff will not be utilized during the Spring pre-season period, there will be spot checking for adherence to the Tennis Safe Play Rules when utilizing the WSTC Courts. If members do not follow the Tennis Safe Play Rules, the WSTC Board will temporarily suspend their tennis court usage and could also close the courts to everyone for a period of time. We are hoping to avoid either of these scenarios by members and their guests following the rules below.
To start the Spring outdoor tennis season, 4 of the 5 WSTC tennis courts will have their nets up and available to reserve online. Middle court #4 will not have a net up to start the season in order to provide additional spacing between each tennis court. This will be revisited later in the Spring.
One key Tennis Safe Play Rule change since the end of our Fall outdoor season last year is that all individuals visiting the WSTC property and while playing tennis are required to wear a face covering regardless of social distancing or vaccination status. The only exception to this rule is that a face covering is optional once you have arrived to your reserved tennis court if you are playing singles tennis only.
Any club members interested in private or semi-private tennis lessons this Spring can contact our club Tennis Pro Vi Nguyen at 617-816-1913 (cell/text) or via email at vnguyen734@gmail.com.
WSTC Tennis Safe Play Rules
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the updated WSTC Tennis Safe Play Rules below remain in place to help protect tennis players, staff and spectators. All club members are required to sign a WSTC COVID-19 waiver in order to access the tennis facility. A waiver is available for members to sign in the Membersplash online portal. Each member must sign a waiver prior to making a tennis court reservation for the 2022 season. In addition, members are responsible for making sure any tennis guest signs the Guest Waiver available on the WSTC website. These rules are in addition to the regular WSTC Tennis Rules listed on the WSTC website, but also supersede the regular tennis rules in any instances where there is a conflict. The Tennis Safe Play Rules could further change as the State and/or Town adjust their pandemic response. While these rules should help provide for safe tennis play, you ultimately use the WSTC tennis courts at your own risk.
I. Limitations on Who Can Use the WSTC Tennis Courts:
Non-club members (i.e., guests) can only use the WSTC tennis courts if they are included on the court reservation with a club member (maximum of one guest per club member on the reservation). Therefore, one club member cannot invite 3 or more guests to play tennis with them at the WSTC, but two members can invite up to two guests to play doubles tennis on one reservation.
Spectators within the tennis facility will be limited to club members supervising minor children who are playing tennis. Spectators must wear face coverings and maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from any other spectator, player or WSTC staff in the tennis facility, even if you have been vaccinated.
Children under age 12 require supervision at all times on club grounds. Please do not leave children under 12 at the WSTC tennis courts without a supervising adult remaining.
Per the CDC and USTA, do not visit the WSTC tennis facilities if any of the following applies to you:
-
You are exhibiting any symptoms of coronavirus: mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough and difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by the CDC.
-
You have not been vaccinated (including the wait period) and have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
-
You or a family member is awaiting the results of a COVID test.
II. Reserving and Using WSTC Tennis Courts:
In order to use a WSTC tennis court, you are required to have an online court reservation (which includes any guests on it), which can be made via the WSTC web-based tennis court reservation system. This supports adherence with pandemic contact tracing rules.
If you have problems setting up an account or scheduling a court online please send an email to tennis.winswim@gmail.com for IT assistance.
While entering and leaving the tennis facility:
-
Avoid touching the hand rails, gates, fencing and tennis nets.
-
Stay at least 6 feet apart from non-household members.
-
Wear a face covering for the duration of your visit, except once you have arrived to your tennis court only if you are playing singles tennis.
-
Use hand sanitizer shortly before and after play.
There will be no bathrooms, Porta Potty or water available at the WSTC until the pool area opens, so please make arrangements ahead of your visit to the WSTC tennis courts.
